University of Presov, Presov

Since 1997, Prešovská univerzita v Prešove has separated from Šafárik University in Košice and has become an independent state university. It is one of the ten most prestigious universities in the country and one of four educational institutions in Slovakia that has won the prestigious Diploma Supplement Label, which increases the international valuation of its diploma.

Historical traditions and modern opportunities

The university is located in the administrative center of the Prešov region with a population of about one hundred thousand residents. Prešov is the third largest city in the country.

Prešovská univerzita v Prešove founded its first faculties in 1677 and 1880, so it is proud of many ancient traditions.

The university offers its students an active and diverse leisure organization:

• sports sections;
• amateur theater studios;
• dance classes;
• numerous interest groups;
• free language training (Spanish, German, English and other languages).

The student campus of several buildings offers good living conditions for a reasonable fee (separate bathroom in each block, shared kitchen, modern comfortable furniture) and walking distance to the academic buildings.

Prešovská univerzita v Prešove is the third in Slovakia in terms of the number of faculties, where a total of about twelve and a half thousand students study under the skillful guidance of about a thousand teachers.

The university is a member of the European University Association (EUA) and the Alliance of Central-Eastern European Universities (ACEU).
