Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra

Slovenská poľnohospodárska univerzita v Nitre is one of the top twenty universities in the country and is associated with higher education in the field of agriculture. The university provides specialists in the agro-industrial sector of the country’s economy.

Slovenská poľnohospodárska univerzita v Nitre was the first university in Slovakia to start working in the ECTS credit education system and issues the international diploma supplement ESTS Label.

History of formation

Slovenská poľnohospodárska univerzita v Nitre began its existence in 1941, when the Slovak Technical University of Bratislava began to teach disciplines in forestry and agriculture.

Since 1946, the university was the College of Agricultural and Forestry Engineering in Košice. In 1952, the college was divided into the University of Forestry and Forest Technology in Zvolen and the Agricultural University of Nitra. Since 1996, it has been called the Slovak Agricultural University.

The university buildings were built in the 1960s by Vladimír Deděčka, and today they are a landmark of the city and a national cultural monument.

Nitra is the fifth largest city in the country, known for its attractive architecture.

Slovenská poľnohospodárska univerzita v Nitre is capable of educating up to fifteen thousand students with a staff of five hundred teachers.
